This case is made from Maple Wood which is finished with a clear satin varnish to bring out the superb grain in the wood while adding that slight sheen to the reed case for extra quality. The build quality of the reed case is very high, with robust brass pillar hinges & very strong magnetic points which keep the oboe/cor anglais reed case firmly shut, yet easy to open. The 10 oboe/cor anglais reeds are held firmly in place by a soft foam ribbon type strip which, while holding the reeds securely also allows for easy removal. Your cork or metal oboe/cor anglais reed staples rest neatly on a foam 'pillow' that prevents them from moving within the case, helping you avoid damage to the tip of your precious oboe reeds.

Ideal for a student or Amateur Oboist

Having 8 - 10 oboe reeds in your reed case is a must if you are a student or amateur oboist. This allows you to keep several different types of reed in the case to suit different situations: i.e. you may have a reed that is a bit softer and as such ideal for playing 2nd oboe & another which is more soloistic and prominent. It is important to be able to carry around a selection such as this so that you can cater for any performance situation without fear of a bad reed!

Having this amount of reeds with you also allows you to 'rotate' your reeds, which will increase the length that your reeds last. Rotating your reeds is when you use a different reed each day, say for 3 days at a time, eventually arriving back to the first reed in order to begin the process again and so on. This technique, if practised regularly, will greatly increase how long your oboe reeds last!
