Feels sturdy and secure, lots of space around each reed. Really pleased.
Nice product, good price
fast service, verry good.
I have bought 4 of these Wiseman reed cases within the last 6 months. They are my favorite and they provide lots of ventilation and protection. They are sturdy as well as beautifully crafted to provide a luxurious feel with functionality for everyday use. You honestly can't find a better reed case, especially from a great business like Crook and Staple
This was our second purchase from Crook and Staple. Their bassoon reed cases are better than any we can find in the US, and their service is fantastic so our purchases arrive well.
The case is nice - looks and feels great. The magnets hold the case securely closed while still being easy to open. I was concerned that the case may easily tip over while open due to the large lid, but that's not a problem at all.
It's a lot lighter than I expected, weighing almost nothing - to the point where some people will probably think it's too light, but it's fine for me. It has a relatively large "Wiseman" logo on the outside of the lid, which you can't tell from the picture - also the wood is a little bit darker (on my case at least) than it appears on the picture.
I did do two modifications to the case, the necessity of which may be debatable:
1) There are no venting holes, and although the case doesn't close with a completely tight seal I didn't want to risk any mold, so I made a hole in both sides where the case closes with a small round file. Now looks as if it was made with them.
2) I wanted to make sure that the reeds wouldn't pop out of place during transportation, so I glued a strip of foam on the inside of the lid to securely hold them in place when the case is closed.
Overall a good little case (even better with a few mods), that holds a lot of reeds per cm3.
My purchase of a bassoon reed case went very well and I'm very happy with the product.
It is a nice, light and elegant wooden reed case, strong enough to resist to the fall of a(little)bell last year, the box was broken, but the reeds OK...
