Perfect for amateur to advanced bassoonists
The Windeler bassoon reed BD3 is designed for amateur to advanced players and suits 2nd Bassoon or low bassoon parts. It is designed to be able to play very quietly when playing low on the bassoon, which can often be very hard work if the reed you are using isn't suited to playing low and quiet passages.
Warm and Responsive
It has a warm and rounded 'Germanic' sound which is very full bodied. The Windeler bassoon reed is responsive making it fairly easy to play. The reed is of a medium strength.
Long lasting German Windeler quality
Windeler bassoon reeds are made in Germany by one of Windelers past pupils. The cane and raw materials are handpicked to ensure every reed is of the highest quality.

the service was good once it was agreed that my previous reeds had been lost in transit.
Very good response from the start.
Amazing quality of products and the service definitely matches
I sat down at orchestra and thought, I’ll do it, I’ll break in a new reed. All ranges proved very responsive, great for intonation and most importantly gave me confidence for the Figaro overture!
Bought for my son, he said it’s easy to play, and I thought it sounded great
Usual fast delivery from Crook & Staple. The reed itself was well packed and after the initial soaking played easily right from the off with no adjustments required.
Lovely sound at the lower register but had to push hard for middle C and above. Great sound though for lowest two octaves.
Great reed which plays nicely through the range.
Very harsh sound. The first time I tried it it was ok, but since then I don’t like the sound at all.
Coming back to playing after 35 years, I have tried lots of reeds (10+) without finding one with a good rounded tone. Not so keen on BD2, but this has been the best reed and at last I can start to discontinue using my old reeds. Play an old Fox plastic bassoon (better than many of the wooden ones for tone)
